Lightyear One
An essential skill I learned in my design classes was the ability to take inspiration from existing products and apply it to my own work without compromising originality. For the following projects, each student was assigned a modern electric car to guide our design process. I was assigned the Lightyear One, a cutting-edge solar powered electric vehicle. After conducting extensive brand research, identifying a customer persona, and studying the design and technological features of the vehicle, I designed a chess set and a shoe using the Lightyear One as inspiration.
Chess Set
This chess set embodies the aerodynamic design of the Lightyear One with sleek curvature and simple geometry. This set of pieces, along with the chessboard and traditional set, were all modeled and rendered with Fusion360.
Shoe
After disassembling an existing shoe and studying its anatomy, I designed and modeled this shoe to appear as a functional piece of footwear. Not only does it incorporate specific design features of the Lightyear One, it is intended for a consumer of the vehicle.
